The temperature has been consistently high in New York and everyone is taking advantage of the nice weather. My friends and family have been spending their weekends out at the beach, in bars and restaurants, and whooping it up at parties. I know, nothing new here, but what about after the festivities? How do we get our body back on track after copious amounts of frosé, beers and pitchers of margaritas? Huh? No worries, I have it, just one glass of Detox Charcoal Lemonade should do the trick.

Activated charcoal is the ingredient in this drink that provides relief from the effects of too much drinking. Moreover, it is claimed to have many health benefits too. Admittedly, some of these benefits are more tried and true than others. Check out the list below.

  • anti-aging
  • lowers cholesterol
  • treatment for an overdose or poisoning
  • eases gas and bloating
  • teeth whitening
  • weight loss

As a hangover cure, activated charcoal doesn’t vanquish the existence of alcohol, however, it does absorb the toxins in the body. Needless to say, after a night of drinking toxins are your enemy, therefore a drink of Detox Charcoal Lemonade is likely to aid recovery.

Activated charcoal should be used on occasion rather than on a regular basis. It is a food supplement and should be treated as such.

There is one very important thing to note. Activated charcoal’s absorption qualities will absorb medication. The same applies to vitamins, birth control and other supplements. There is a very small amount of activated charcoal in this recipe, but if you have a chronic illness that requires you take medicine on a regular basis, it might be best to avoid activated charcoal altogether. Although, if you have bashed your body with alcohol while suffering from a chronic disease, it is clear you do not often take good advice!

If you’ve never experienced charcoal in a drink fear not, it doesn’t taste like dirt. Activated charcoal has no taste at all. Although, to avoid a gritty residue at the bottom of your glass you should ensure the charcoal has completely dissolved. Just divide ingredients into two portions, pour into two mason jars, shake vigorously and serve.
