Lower heat to medium and then gradually add marinara sauce.
Stir sauce and sausage as you apply the sauce so that they mix together thoroughly.
Allow sauce to heat through while stirring.
Once sauce is hot create divots in the sauce and sausage to act as wells for the eggs, then crack the eggs into those wells. Do this one at a time to make sure you don't lose your wells.
Cover skillet with aluminum foil and lower heat to low and allow eggs to poach slowly.
Once eggs are cooked to your liking serve with a touch of black pepper and a sprig of basil.
Notes
Both the marinara sauce and sausage are likely to have a decent amount of salt, hence the omission of salt from this recipe. You can apply salt if you like, but I would suggest you do that once served.
